Thankfulness Abounds

Children receiving donated school supplies.

At this time of year, we are particularly reminded of all the things we are truly thankful for. Through your generous gifts of donations and financial contributions, CUPS has been able to continue its much needed work in northeast Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley. U-Haul vans fully loaded with school supplies, medical equipment, computers, blankets and warm clothing have been taken into Mexico this year donated by all of our friends. And we continued to complete construction projects and find homes for Personal Energy Transportation (PET) devices as well.

Financially, CUPS has been blessed by the continued contributions from our numerous faithful donors. Thank you to all the individuals who have contributed to this ministry. Many thanks also go out to the following organizations for their support this year.

  • Brenham Presbyterian Church
  • Georgetown First Presbyterian Church
  • Gonzales Presbyterian Church
  • J.J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church
  • Kingwood First Presbyterian Church
  • LaGrange First Presbyterian Church
  • McAllen First Presbyterian Church
  • Northwoods Presbyterian Church
  • Presbytery of the New Covenant
  • Spring Branch Presbyterian Church

As always, CUPS strives to be good stewards of the donations and contributions we receive. Since we are largely volunteer based, CUPS currently spends very little on administration or fund raising.  In 2017 2% of our expenses were for administration, 1.5% was for fund raising and 96.5% was devoted to program expenses. We thank each one of you for your support this year.

CUPS Highlighted at recent Presbytery Meeting

The Mission Presbytery meeting was held in Mission, TX on October 26th through 27th. The Presbytery meeting participants celebrated mission work by bring donations and participating in group activities across the area. These donations and activities were given in support of mission needs to organizations and local groups in and around the Rio Grande Valley.  First Presbyterian Church McAllen, TX with Pastor Kathy Escadell and Stan Marley of Hand Crank Transportation Rio Grande Valley celebrated CUPS' long history of border ministry by hosting two activity sites. All PET carts constructed and donated school supplies were sorted and given to CUPS. A presentation on CUPS was also given on Sunday morning by Linda Parsons at the McAllen Presbyterian church, which was also celebrating its 110th anniversary.
